100 years...

...ago, this Divine Fairy fly rod was introduced.  At 7 1/2 feet and 3 pieces it truly is a 'fairy' rod. Many consider it the rod that started the short rod craze of the early 1900's.  This one made its debut in 1917,  Most rods at the time were 9 feet or longer.  Restored to original condition by Michael Sinclair, it is ready for another 100 years.  Rare and desirable, this Divine Fairy is a large part of American bamboo rod making history.  First time out...and, where else?  Fairyland...

Wind in the willows...

...is pretty to see.  But, they can sure make a mess of a trout stream...especially, with beavers in the area.  Take away the willows and beavers have no reason to be there.  I used to keep them under control but after two years of surgeries it was difficult and they got away from me.  Well, I finally got a round saw blade on the old echo weedwacker...it is like a hot knife through butter on the willows.  We've been having at it  and here is Otis and I surveying the damage...
